By category there are four types of leather. Full grain, top grain, bonded and corrected grain leather. By quality there are hundred types of leather. Vegetable-tanned, chrome sheet, texture, natural and many more. Also types different by skin. Most widely used are cowhide, crazy-horse, buffalos, pig skin, sheep skin, lamb skin, crocodile, alligator, stingray leather, stout and shark leather.

Selection and priorities differ from countries by availabilities, policies, legalities and easy access. Most of all cowhide and buffalos veg-tanned skin are used because of its stiffness, look, adore and long lasting qualities. These skins are used for tough surfaces like shoe soles and facelift, design and DIY art. These skin are molded into desired purpose by using water and other chemicals. Then final color are given for outclass look. Many professionals cut the skins into pieces of rolls for easy carry and use in daily work. Entire skin is heavy and difficult to place on working benches. These skins are divided into parts by process and purposes.
